Field Day!

From Blog Favorites #4

Field Day usually brings thoughts of sunshine and warm summer days - it's the end of year celebration that summer break is about to begin! This year, the field day was anything but warm and sunshiny. I consider it a small miracle that the kids could even have field day at all. The day before was FREEZING (I wore my big winter coat) and it poured rain harder than I remember it raining all year. Torrential rain! I doubted that they'd even get to go outside on field day. That morning it looked threatening. It was cool and very cloudy. Luckily, the rain held off in the morning when they had all their activities outside. The kids didn't seem to mind the cool weather at all - they had a blast as usual.

One of the most favorite activities - it's not in the picture, but the kids played this funny version of "soccer" with a gigantic ball.

Tug of war, of course! Boys against girls!

This was funny. . . Every year, on field day, the Booster club hosts a snowcone party during lunch recess. It's a tradition the kids love and look forward to on a hot summer day. This year, a hot chocolate party would have been more appropriate. The kids shivered as they at their icy treat in the 50 degree weather! Look how cold Natalie looks! They didn't complain and still thought it was fun.

Carrie was making me laugh so hard. 80% of the kids wanted blue, rather than orange snowcones. So there was a huge line for blue and no line for orange. Carrie decided to try and recruit orange fans by making double deckers for those who would come to the orange side!

These girls even got a triple decker! I don't know if they were able to keep it from falling all over!

Katie was busy on the blue side!
