BFF Fishy Style

Angela made a new best friend today.
His name is Larry.
Larry is a Crowntail Betta. He is blue on top and red on bottom.


The reason why Angela met Larry today is because I am teaching a Sea Animals lesson this week in preschool. The lesson suggests getting a fish for the children to observe through a magnifying glass. I love fish, so it was a good excuse to go get one! We still have Brandon's* fish "tank/bowl" from our last Betta fish.
I had no idea it would end up being such a happy event for Angela. She got to help pick which fish to take home. We bought a couple 99 cent plants to decorate his bowl and five minutes later we were fish owners. Before we were home, she had decided that he was a "Larry". She introduced herself and makes sure everyone else does the same.

Twilight likes Larry too. (o: She is very curious what he tastes like.

Angela giggled as she held Larry on the way home. She's been saying the funniest things today and checks on him constantly. Here are just a few samples of her comments about Larry . . .

"He is so funny!"

"Do you think he is scared? He don't know where we are."

"He so beautiful."

"He said my name!"

"Will he be scared of the dark?"

"I'll be right back Larry, I'm going to play with Rachel."

"Are you okay, Larry?" (as soon as she got back from Rachel and Matthew's house.)

"Can you pet fish?"

"How do I give him a hug?"

"He don't like his food." Me: "Why do you say that? Did he spit it out?" Ang: "No! He shivered!"

"You guys be quiet," to Sarah and Natalie, "He's sleeping - see!"

"Can I watch Ariel with Larry?"

while watching Ariel "He's not watching it! Maybe he scared."
