Pittock Mansion Field Trip

This summer, I want to get out more with the girls to see the fun sights around town.
Last week, we visited the Pittock Mansion.
I told the girls we were going to see a castle - which wasn't exactly true - but it's the closest thing Portland has to one. (o: They were not disappointed, except Angela was a little miffed that you weren't allowed to touch anything.
This was my favorite room, the music room. I was surprised how much the girls got into our tour of this old house. They loved seeing all the fancy princess-y decorations, tea sets, art, etc. They loved the old photographs and choosing which bedroom they would stay in if they lived there. (And then fighting because they all wanted the same room and even when your pretending you can't share, apparently.)

I love how they have the house staged in the time period and as if someone was living there presently. Half written letters on the desks, "eggs" on the counter, old fashioned toiletries in the bathrooms, etc.

This staircase is something else...

Angela liked this room best - the "red" room.

Old camera, new camera . . .

The back porch

Beautiful city views from the backyard.

It was appropriate that this huge home in the City of Roses had beautiful rose gardens too.

We need to go on a field trip together this summer but maybe at a place where the kids can run around a bit!
