Last Day in Oregon

From Blog Favorites Sept.Oct.
On our last day we had a few more friends come to say goodbye. Sweet Monica and her mom Eva (see the tributes to friends post) came one last time and brought bags of goodies for all of us to enjoy on the long drive. It was such a thoughtful and kind gesture. We will miss their family so so so much.

Our awesome real estate agent came to check in with us one last time and say goodbye. By the end of everything she felt like a good friend as well. She took such good care of us and every single detail. I am so grateful that we found her when a friend happened to mention her sister-in-law on the exact day we were starting to look for an agent. I can't say enough about Patty - she was amazing. We will always be grateful for her.

They didn't want to say goodbye and I didn't want to make them.

Luning, our next door neighbor came with books and treats for the girls to enjoy in the car. She was always such a sweetheart to my girls. We just loved her. All these kind gestures were not helping my emotions!

My sweet buds Sarah and Lizzy came one last time too and we hung out for a bit - like old times. I felt so bad that I actually didn't get very teary saying goodbye to them. I seriously think I was all dried up and because I expect them to come see me in Utah. (o: I know Sarah will be coming to BYU next year and they have family close to our new home. I knew I would see them again and that thought made me happy!

Natalie played over at Elizabeth's house one last time while Melvin* and I loaded up the cars and cleaned the house.

Our very last meal in our wonderful home filled with so many memories. We ate Chipotle right in this spot 4 and a half years previously the day we got the keys to this house. Angela was a baby. We have LOVED this house. It was a wonderful place to raise our little family.

I had to snap one last picture as I walked out for the last time. I was bawling and trying to hold back sobs. So many memories in this home. Preschool lessons, Christmas appetizer parties, family visits, birthday parties, Christmas Eve fondue dinners, and everyday living all took place in this spot.

It really was a miracle that we were able to fit everything in our two cars that was left in the house. We used every last square inch to squeeze in all our items that the movers wouldn't take, our cleaning supplies, our suitcases, sleeping bags, vacuum, computers and everything we'd need for the next few weeks until we got into the new house. I was so exhausted already as I went to get in the car that I got in the passenger side. Melvin* tried not to laugh when I realized, I had to drive the van! We locked up and as we pulled out of our street, I tried to see as best I could with tears falling freely. We stopped by for one last goodbye to the Halls, a quick run by Natalie's friend Emma's house to leave a birthday gift and then we were finally off. We were really leaving Oregon. )o:
