Finally a visit with Papa Haydn

Me, Kirsten, Lisa and Kelly enjoying some R and R time together! (o:
When I moved to Portland 9 years ago, I still remember attending a relief society garden party night where all the ladies (there were about 40 or so) took turns sharing their favorite things to do in Portland in the summer. This was a great idea considering about 15 or so of us in attendance had just moved to Portland from BYU to work for Intel. It was a great way to get to know the area we had just moved to. I still remember taking notes and writing down on my list a little place that more than one of the ladies mentioned. Papa Haydn's on NW 23rd. They raved about the desserts. I've heard it mentioned several times since and have always wanted to go.
Well, a couple weeks ago, when our YW presidency decided we needed a girls' night together, I brought up this fun place and I finally got to go tonight after 9 years! (o: We went in honor of our birthdays which all fall within a few weeks of each other. The funny thing is that in my primary presidency we had the same birthday coincidence/"phenomenon"/whatever you want to call it. I still go out for a birthday girls' night with those ladies. Nevin* wondered if this will be a tradition with every presidency I am a part of. (o: Sounds good to me!
Papa Haydn did not disappoint. We had dinner, which was delicious - enjoyed Oregon strawberry lemonade and, of course, dessert. It took us about 20 minutes to decide which delectable thing we each wanted to order. We went inside the restaurant to ogle at the delectable desserts on display - everything was so pretty and over the top and ... yum. Want to see pictures? Click on the link of this post title to see what I'm talking about. Did you see it? Like I said, YUM.
I ended up finally choosing the chocolate cube - it was so perfectly cubical and smooth - I hated to break into it, but once I found the delicious mousse inside, I didn't feel too bad. (O:

Kirsten's hazelnut dessert was so pretty I had to get a picture of it too.

Of course, even better than the food, was the company. I loved getting to talk and talk and talk - not about planning activities or YW business, but just about whatever we wanted. We covered funny and lighthearted subjects and more serious and somber subjects. It was just a lovely evening in downtown Portland with some wonderful women I am so happy to call my friends.

Okay! I'm r-e-a-d-y to go on our girl's night. I have totally dropped the ball getting back to Rose. You know....you COULD introduce OUR presidency to Papa Haydn's. I liked what I saw in the pictures. :)
