Skater Girls

From BlogFavorites
When I went to pick up Britlee for young women's on this particular Wednesday night - I got a surprise! Britlee was going all out for our skate night! I laughed my head off. I love this girl - talk about spunk!

Melanie was a little nervous and clung to the side at first. Here's Britlee giving her a friendly push - I think she ended up falling down after receiving this "help".

From BlogFavorites
Ohhh - my girls can do some pretty awesome tricks.

Wow - that takes coordination! Our skate night was a little funny at first - as you can see it's totally dead - we practically had the rink to ourselves. It was Christian Rock night. Every single song was a religious song - but not even upbeat ones. Apparently, there was a youth group from a different church with a very strict leader. The DJ said she put on a Hannah Montana song and heard about it from this particular leader. So for about an hour, until that group left - the music was BORING. Nice to listen to when you're not skating, I'm sure, but come on - there's a time for everything and skating means time for Phil Collins, Michael Jackson and, yes, Hannah Montana! (o:

Penny was a pretty rockin' skater - especially for being one of the "old" ladies! (O: She is an 80's girl too.

Whoa! Check out those moves! Seriously - if I did that, I would never get back up.

Synchronized roller skating.

I love this - Ellie's skates exaggerate the already big difference in height between these two. (o:

Wow! The girls were getting good at playing the "claw" game! Look at their spoils!

A Girls' Night on the Town!

From BlogFavorites
Towards the beginning of the year Heidi - one of my YW and Natalie's violin teacher, told us her school was doing "Alice in Wonderland" and she was going to try out for the lead. She is such an outgoing and spunky girl, we weren't surprised to find out that she got the part! For weeks, we saw her at violin practice after her play practices and got the run down on how things were going. When the time finally came - we wouldn't have missed it for anything. Tana got one of the flower parts too! WE couldn't wait to see their performance. We invited Lydia along for the fun.

And I let Sarah bring Jensen since we had one more seat in the van. I always thought it would be fun to have five girls - so I had my five girls for the night. We had a great time!

My buddy Angela!

From BlogFavorites
This outfit is quite the ensemble. Angela is turning out to like making her own fashion statements along with Nat. I think her shirt is even backwards. What kind of mother am I? (o;

The play was fantastic! We had such a fun time. It was a Disney (Jr.) "broadway" play and it was so well done. The costumes were incredible and the script and "special effects" were quite clever! Like the part where the caterpillar is moving around. He led in the front and several students walked behind him - connected together with green fabric and wearing green gloves on their hands. They were his many legs. I didn't explain it very well - it was just really neat. When Alice shrunk down - they had a little girl that looked like Heidi do those parts. Again, clever! The girls were so excited to see Heidi after. She was like a celebrity to them! Heidi really did a fantastic job - she is definitely a performer.

From BlogFavorites
Tana did fantastic as well. She got so into her part and got to do a lot of singing, which she loves.

From BlogFavorites
The Mad Hatter was my friend Stephanie's son. He was tons of fun - his scenes were very entertaining.

From BlogFavorites
We didn't know the girl playing the Queen of Hearts, but the girls really wanted a picture with her. They loved her dress.

From BlogFavorites
These two are so fabulous. Best friends. Not many best friends could both go for the lead in the play (for the record, I think Tana would have done amazing as well - I could really see her doing it) and not have any hurt feelings or bitterness when only one was chosen. I am proud of Tana for "Blooming" where she was planted. She put her whole heart into her flower role and you could tell she was having a blast. Rather than moping and being mad at Heidi. Instead she was genuinely happy for Heidi. I am proud of her for that - there aren't many adults who could have handled that half as well.

Home Improvements

Tax return time is a happy time of year! (o: We had a few things we were itching to do. The dumb thing is that I got these "before" pictures, but I forgot to get "after" ones. I will have to add them later - (my counters are too messy at the moment to get a picture now!)

From BlogFavorites

We had one glitch with our new countertops - the installer came and said there was a miscommunication with the measurements, so I had to wait an extra week to get these replaced. Bummer - but I survived. We wanted granite, but I wasn't willing to fork out $6,000 - so, we went with a new laminate that has the look of granite. It really updates the kitchen and looks much better! I am very happy with it and will include a picture soon.

New family room carpet was next on the list. Angela had fun watching the installation.

These pics are a little backwards - here the carpet is before removal.

Here's a closeup picture I found of our new counters. I think they are quite pretty.

From BlogFavorites
Here's a picture from farther away - hard to see under all the birthday clutter, but you get the idea - I'll post a better pick later. They're nice and dark - much more updated than the cream color.

From BlogFavorites
Getting carpet is a pain! We need it in the other rooms too, but just doing that one small room was a ton of work! Again - more "after" pictures later!

Here is our makeshift after school snack since we were kicked out of the kitchen. Angela and I had lunch on this blanket too.

Princess

From BlogFavorites

Angela is a true princess. After 5 years, if you ask her what she wants to be when she grows up, she still says just one thing. There is never any variance. "A princess".

Often, when she is out meeting with her subjects, she dresses in her princess best. This was walking into my piano lessons at Carrie's house. The tulips were so beautiful and so was Angela. I just had to take a picture.

Lucky Number Seven!

From BlogFavorites

From BlogFavorites
Every year for every one of my girls I say it - how did she get so big? How did Natalie turn 7?? Man this motherhood thing is going by way too fast! Natalie had her birthday on a school day - she loves to stay home and sleep in - but when it's you're birthday, school is more fun! She was excited to open up one present in the morning and couldn't wait for me to bring her ice cream sandwiches for a lunch classroom treat. (see pic below)

And, of course, balloons! We love you lots and lots Natalie!! What a beautiful and fun girl you are growing up to be!

Natalie also got to be star of the week because it was her birthday. She made this poster all by herself! It turned out so cute! Here is what it says in case you can't read it. I know I should really work on helping Nat with her spelling, but her phonetic spelling is so dang cute.

"Favorite animal: buney, My favorite color is: Bloow, My favorite food is: salid, The beech is my favorite place, When I grow up I want to be: a vet, My favorite thing to do is: ride my scootr, If I had one wish I would wish for: a bublgum mashyne." (o:

I wanted to include this one image from another special event that happened on this day, also. Out of respect for a dear friend, I will not include an explanation of this event on my blog, but it touched my life forever and I will never forget it.
