Basketball Camp!

From Blog Favorites #3
The last week of July, all three girls participated in the Melanson boys annual basketball camp. It was such a blast! We love their camps. And I loved that the girls got in some good exercise and learned some great skills.

Sarah learned playing with boys skills (she was the only girl!) . . .

And Natalie learned some other interesting skills during Sarah's camp time! She could teach her own summer camp - 'weird talents with basketballs'.

Josh and Dave were the coaches this year - TJ is getting ready to head off to BYU this year. Everyone is growing up these days! What's up with that?

What a fun week - my favorite part was getting to visit with Kayelynn, Kim, and some of the other parents. I was just realizing that all the sports and music classes my kids have participated in these last few months were almost all taught by friends from church. Miss Sally taught ballet, Heidi teaching Nat violin, the Gerbers did the gymnastics camp, Marilyn teaches Sarah piano and the Melansons taught basketball. We have some very talented friends! I am so glad they share their talents with others

Oh! I almost forgot! One of the days at basketball camp, Kim had an envelope for me and Natalie was beaming as she handed it over. Apparently, while I was back home making dinner, Natalie pulled one of her loose teeth out that was bugging her! The week before she had pulled a tooth out at Cafe Rio in Utah. What a funny girl. Kim said Natalie acted like it really wasn't a big deal, but she needed someone to hold her tooth for her. Then she went right back to playing basketball. I think it is funny, for someone who can be pretty dramatic at times, how non-chalantly she just plucks her teeth out when they get loose enough to bug her.

We did have a sad moment when Natalie was admiring her tooth while I talked to some of the other parents and waited for Sarah's group to start. She dropped her teeny tiny tooth in the grass. Everyone immediately stopped talking and started searching, some on their hands and knees. It seemed futile and we started reassuring Natalie that we could leave a note under her pillow and it would be accepted by the tooth fairy as legit. But then I caught a glimpse of it! Natalie was so relieved. Phew - that was more drama then getting the thing out.

I miss the good ol' days waking up to a dollar under my pillow.....now that I think of it, how did I not wake up as my pillow was being lifted? Hmm, I guess I'll find out how it's done when I'm a "tooth fairy".
